Here's the last leg of a long, long walk to the Valley of the Beautiful Women--I guess the more wine you drink, the more beautiful the women become. (The walk was uphill until it was downhill.) And here's a look at wine work at one of the cellars in the Valley.
The Ottoman Turks invaded Hungary in the 16th century, occupied Visegrad and other areas. This Minaret dates to that period. It's half a block from my panzio in Eger. I chose not to climb to the top, but you can see a few brave souls who did! There's another 6 feet or so of minaret below the bottom edge of my photo.
Isn't this lovely? Flower shops outside a cemetery in Eger on the walk to the Valley.
I took a bus to Szilvasvarad and the Bukk (Beech) Hills. The only sounds as I walked the trail were the stream, waterfalls, and birdsong. Just the break I needed from busy Budapest.
