Better-late-than-never photos

Here are a few of the sights I saw and people I met in Hungary.

Here are pics of where I lived for the first 5 days in Budapest--the gate to the courtyard of my apt is just beyond the fir tree on the right. The next pic is of the building next door. Budapest is a mix of 19th century charm and urban renewal. Lots of graffiti.

Next up: The grand central staircase at the Opera and a pic of our box--my seat was the one with the jacket. The best seat was Steffie's--the one directly to the left of mine. It sits on a raised platform. "These seats go first because they're cheap and you can see everything," she said. Finally, 5 of the 6 of us who sat together: the Malaysian woman, the Brazilian, me, the German, and Steffie--our Budapest opera aficionado. "They can't start the Opera without me," she said. She attends twice a week.

I'll show more pics in the next post.
